What is a Skin Peel?
It can be used to treat a variety of skin problems including textural concerns, to reduce pigmentation and improve acne prone skin. When we think of a skin peel we often think of the aggressive skin peels which cause your skin to shed completely and leave you needing at least a week of downtime. Thankfully not all skin peels are the same some peels have no down time, your skin can benefit without obvious peeling!
At the clinic we offer a range of skin peels. Our qualified and experienced staff will be able to advise which peel would be most suitable for your situation.

We offer the following Skin Peels:
A superficial peel and pampering peel which leaves the skin looking bright and feeling refreshed.
Ideal to improve skin condition, acne prone skin and target skin imperfections.
Achieve instant, glowing results with our Obagi Blue Peel Radiance- a superficial Salicylic acid peel which exfoliates the dead skin cells which sit on the surface of your skin.
Did you know that dead skin cells cause your skin to have a dull appearance?
Without gentle exfoliation treatments dead skin cells will build up making your skin have a lifeless appearance.
Best results are achieved from having a course of 3-6 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart.
Ideal for oily, acne prone skin to help control breakouts.
How do they work?
Superficial skin peels promote exfoliation of the dead skin cells within the upper layer of the skin allowing healthier cells to the top and improving the texture/feeling of the skin.
Salicylic acid promotes exfoliation and unclogs blocked pores by breaking down oils. It is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory so it is particularly appropriate for acne prone skin. It can also be used to treat skin on the back and chest.
How can this procedure be arranged?
Patients' skin will be assessed at an initial consultation the most appropriate peel will be recommended following an individual assessment. Following an initial consultation the procedure can be booked.
What does the procedure involve?
We recommend 2 weeks skin preparation, with home care products to exfoliate and condition the skin. This improves penetration of the peel, minimises risk and optimises results.
The skin is thoroughly cleansed and a peel prep solution applied to remove any oil on the skin surface. The peel solution will then be applied evenly over the face and allowed to dry. The sensation experienced will vary depending on the type and depth of the peel. Patients usually experience a warm/mild burning sensation which passes within a couple of minutes.
Depending on the peel type and your skin, additional applications may be applied until the practitioner is satisfied with the response.
Once the desired end point has been reached depending on the type of peel it will either be neutralised or cleansed off the skin. We will then apply appropriate skincare to help soothe the skin.

What to expect after the treatment
The skin may be pink and may feel a little prickly, this always depends on the type of peel. Make up should not be applied until the next day. The skin may feel dry and powdery for the next few days, and whether or not there is any peeling, and to what degree, will depend upon the type of peel used. This will be explained during the consultation. If peeling does occur it usually happens 3-5 days after the treatment.
