Pelleve Radiofrequency

Pellevé is the most recent in potent radiofrequency
skin tightening devices that has swept across the US
replacing old favourites like Thermage.

What is Pelleve Radiofrequency?

Known as the magic wand, in a short course of treatments it will rejuvenate skin, improve fine wrinkles and many will see an improvement in mild facial sagging. In addition to the face, neck and chest it can also be used to treat other sites such as the inner thighs, tummy and backs of the arms. Pellevé gained FDA approval in 2009 for treatment of mild to moderate facial wrinkles.

Pellevé, or Pelleve Radiofrequency is a skin rejuvenation treatment that aims to improve and maintain the quality of patient’s skin. We do not recommend this treatment first line for patients that are concerned with sagging facial skin. Ultherapy is the treatment of choice to treat sagging facial skin.

How does Pelleve Radiofrequency Work?

Pellevé is essentially a painless treatment that precisely heats the deep layers of the skin using advanced radiowave technology without damaging the epidermis/top layer of the skin.

The heat causes the collagen within the treatment area to contract and tighten, which causes a reduction of wrinkles. In about a week after the treatment, the skin will start to produce new collagen. The result is an improvement in skin quality, firmness and tightness.

Who is a good candidate for Pelleve?

Patients that would like to improve mild to moderate wrinkles
Improving crepey skin/skin quality
Maintenance post facial surgery
Patients that would like a subtle skin tightening treatment for mild concerns
Younger appearance desired with no downtime– “Facial Rejuvenation”

How can this procedure be arranged?

All patients that are interested in having Pelleve require an initial Consultation with our team of Practitioners. Patients will receive a thorough and in depth Consultation prior to treatment. A comprehensive treatment plan will be discussed and any questions answered.

What happens on the day of treatment?

Patients can arrive with their normal makeup on. We always cleanse patient’s skin to remove any makeup prior to the treatment. We will ask you to remove any jewellery prior to the treatment.

A treatment gel is applied and a treatment head is applied to the skin. Several passes are performed and both superficial and deeper depths of the skin are treated. The treatment is pleasant and feels like a hot stone massage, some areas may feel slightly hot but the majority of the treatment is a relaxing experience.

By using a combination of different sized Pellevé hand pieces each patient’s specific areas of concern can be addressed, resulting in patients receiving just the right amount of energy. The aim is to heat the skin to 39-42 degrees. At this temperature collagen formation is stimulated.

The new GlideSafe hand pieces features an innovative sensor designed to stop energy flow when the device senses loss of contact with the skin. Throughout the treatment the temperature of the skin is monitored to avoid over heating the skin. These safety features ensure that Pellevé is both a safe and effective treatment.

What to expect after the treatment

Patients can return to normal activities right away, there are no special measures that need to be taken. Following the treatment patients may experience some mild redness and swelling, this normally resolves within two to twenty four hours. Makeup can be applied immediately. Many patients have this treatment close to special occasions because of the instant refreshed look that is achieved after just one treatment.

What results can be expected?

In most patients, there will be an immediate skin tightening and firming effect. We recommend three sessions four weeks apart for optimal results. The result is skin tightening and rejuvenation with a noticeable improvement in skin quality and texture.

Depending on the severity of the wrinkles/skin quality to begin with determines the end result. Some patients with deeper wrinkles and more severe skin quality concerns may benefit the Fraxel repair instead of Pelleve.

Patients can be assured that Pelleve will provide-

No down time – immediate return to normal activity
Safety with little discomfort
Clinically proven and FDA approved
