Fraxel Repair
The Fraxel Re:pair is the Rolls Royce in laser skin resurfacing and the finest of all the Fraxel devices.
What is Fraxel Repair?
It is the deepest of all the fractional CO2 lasers and is manufactured by the pioneering Californian Solta Medical.
Mr Simon Lee was the first Plastic surgeon in the UK to offer this treatment in 2008. Over the past 6 years Mr Simon Lee has witnessed some quite remarkable results that has revolutionised skin resurfacing bringing right down the recovery period and the risks.

How does the Fraxel Repair work?
Fraxel repair is a revolutionary way to correct the most severe skin damage and scarring - without the risks, complications and prolonged downtime of other ablative procedures. The laser treatment uses a high-intensity CO2 laser to vaporize small fractions of unwanted tissue, this then causes the following-
No other laser can give a full thickness skin treatment with all the benefits this brings. Individualised treatments can be performed by Mr Simon Lee prescribing the appropriate treatment settings for each zone.

Who is a good candidate for Fraxel Repair?
It is the only laser technique with FDA approval to treat all the aging effects of the sun including skin tightening and is extremely effective for:
- Brown dyschromias (melasma, sun spots, freckling)
- Wrinkles
- Skin tightening
- Thread veins
Using gentle settings we have a treatment which we call the Fraxel:lite which is designed to improve all those younger blemishes, large pores, sebaceous skin and mild acne scarring. In a single treatment 20 and 30yr olds can see a significant improvement in skin quality with healing times as quick as 2 days.
The treatment has the capacity to treat very deeply, we can tune the laser to treat even the most stubborn of dermal scars. Ice pick scars do not respond well to any form of laser resurfacing and these are best surgically excised. Since having the Re:pair we have developed much experience at this and have many very satisfied patients. Some patients with acne scarring may benefit more than one session.

What happens on the day of treatment?
Patients are advised not to drive, we offer patients the choice to have some mild tranquilisers prior to the procedure and local anaesthetic cream/injections to reduce any discomfort. Patients should allow four hours in total to be at the Bristol Spire Hospital. Comfortable clothing is also recommended.
What to expect after the treatment
Patients will be guided by us at their initial consultation how much downtime is required.
Two to three days downtime is normally required for the Fraxel:lite. Following treatment some mild scabbing can occur which resolves within 2 days. The skin may feel quite dry but it will start to feel softer and improvements will be seen over the next 6 months.
Seven to ten days downtime is normally required for a full thickness Fraxel repair treatment- during this downtime the skin may develop some scabs which will fall off. Underneath the skin will appear pink, the skin can remain slightly pink for a few weeks. A wound care regime is included in the Fraxel repair treatment which we will explain to patients. Sun protection should be worn for the next 6 months following treatment to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.

Before and after
We aim to improve the overall skin quality by 50% this is a significant improvement and we have seen many patients achieve better results than this.
The Fraxel repair really is the Rolls Royce of Fractionated CO2 resurfacing. Mr Simon Lee continues to believe it is the best resurfacing laser on the market. The installation cost is 2-3 times that of it’s closest competitor, so that alone should be evidence enough.
