Thread & varicose veins

Like on the face, legs can suffer very badly from thread veins which appear as small or relatively large broken veins on the surface of the skin anywhere on the legs. They often first appear as small lines and grow longer thicker or more numerous.

They can be linked to increased venous blood pressure due to varicose veins and many people who see us have often already had there varicose veins treated. Although this is not always the case.

Unlike on the face, thread veins on the leg rarely respond well to diathermy, laser or IPL. Sclerotherapy is usually more successful. This involves canulating the vessels with a tiny needle and injecting an irritant that closes down the vessel.

You will need an examination to check for venous incompetence but we are usually able to help most people.
