Ulthera Non Surgical Facelift

Ulthera is the first and only device ever to gain FDA approval for non-surgical face lifting. Ultherapy can treat the both the upper and lower face. It can lift and sharpen the jowl area, jaw line and sagging skin under the chin. On the upper face Ultherapy can effectively lift the brow and hide excess skin on the upper eyelids.

Ultherapy is now FDA approved for 3 indications - lifting the neck, eyebrow and under the chin. The latest FDA approval in July 2014 is to improve the skin in the Decolletage/chest area. Ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for over 50 years and clinical trials have demonstrated the safety of this latest application.

How does Ulthera Work?

Ulthera uses micro-focused ultrasound energy to heat the fatty fibrous layer beneath the skin. This is the same layer that surgeons target during facial surgery. Using the Ultrasound image our Nurse can ensure that the energy is delivered safely and effectively to 2 depths within the skin.

Ultherapy is therefore able to treat much deeper than any other device available on the market. Our machine has been updated with the most recent protocol the 800 Amplify protocol to make the treatment more comfortable for patients.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?

Many patients would like to address facial sagging skin. Good candidates for Ultherapy include-

How can this procedure be arranged?

All patients that are interested in having Ultherapy require an initial Consultation with our Ultherapy Nurse Specialist. Patients will receive a thorough and in depth Consultation, the risks and benefits of the treatment will be discussed comprehensively. Patients can also have a Consultation with Mr Simon Lee (Consultant Plastic Surgeon), there is a Consultation fee to see Mr Simon Lee. Following an initial Consultation the procedure can be booked.

What happens on the day of treatment?

The treatment can cause some discomfort so analgesia is prescribed to reduce this. The recent updated treatment protocol has also alleviated the pain associated with Ultherapy. Discomfort during the treatment is temporary and a signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort thresholds vary patient to patient, options for making the treatment as comfortable as possible will be discussed at the initial consultation.

An Ultrasound probe is placed over the treatment area so that our nurse can at all times visualize the energy is being delivered. A series of treatment lines are administered to heat the deeper tissues this then causes collagen and elastin to be produced. Over the next 6 months a gradual tightening and firming occurs, resulting in a natural lift of the skin over time. The treatment normally takes 2 hours to complete.

What to expect after the treatment

Patients can return to normal activities right away, there are no special measures that need to be taken.

Following the treatment the following side effects are normal and to be expected but these are mild and temporary in nature-

Extremely rare side effects can include:

Many patients leave and no-one can tell that they have had a treatment.

What results can be expected?

With just one treatment, the regenerative process is initiated, but the full effect will build gradually over the course of three to six months. We have found that patients' results are maximised by having a top up procedure 6 months following their initial treatment, we include this complimentary in the initial treatment cost.

Visible effects include a lifting and toning of loose skin. In the FDA clinical trial for instance, nine out of ten patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line. This resulted in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid and a more open, youthful look to the eyes overall. Patients reported firmer, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face and neck as well. There is also an invisible result the procedure with the creation of new collagen, which gives the skin its youthfulness.
